Step of Faith

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see" Hebrews 1:11

our Madeline

Hank and I are stepping off that ledge into the world of the unknown again. Yes, we are signing a contract again, completing a home study again, compiling a dossier again, and then WAITING again to see what God will do. We so want a little girl we are sponsoring yet we do not know if we will be able to get her. So far the doors have opened but there are no guarantees whatsoever; hence the stepping out in faith. Only God knows where this child will go, if she is to be our child He knows that and will orchestrate it to His will and glory. We are willing to follow and see where He leads us. What we do not see is His perfect plan but we desire to be in His plan. All I know for sure is that my heart breaks for orphans! The steps are being taken and now we will just hold on for this wild ride. :)

"Beautiful" Dress

This morning I put out 3 dresses for Madeline to choose from for church. Two were smocked and the other her favorite toile dress. She took one look at them and said "but I want a beautiful one". She opened her closet, found the "beautiful" one and said "now this is beautiful". She is so funny right now!! I had to get a picture but she would never cooperate so this is the best I got:)

By the way our sermon today was very convicting  and solidified alot of the decisions we are trying to make right now!

Dressing Madeline

Madeline usually does not really care about what she is wearing but some days she is adamant about something in particular. Today was that day. She wanted to wear the "rainbow" dress as she calls it:) Or course I had to take a few pics.

I love her little smile in this last one but I've got to get Gardner or Kendyl to fix it for me :). Maybe I really will learn photo shop some day!!

Talent Show

John David had his annual talent show on Tuesday. He has participated in the talent show since SK and always has a great time. This year they were "Starwars Lightspeeders". It is so fun to sit back as a parent and take part in our children's special world; realizing what a "big deal" it is for them to get on stage in front of the school and see how excited they all are. A great night!

Last Basketball Game and Swim Meet

We had a very busy weekend, John David had his last basketball game and last swim meet of the season. I am still trying to talk him into long season for swim but I think he is holding out for summer swim team ( it IS more fun).
I am so proud of you John David in how hard you try at everything you do. You expect the best out of yourself so you are your worst critic. You had a great weekend even though you lost your last game, and all the others:), but you gave it your all every game! You got some great points for your swim team placing 3rd in IM and 25  back stroke, and 5th and 6th in 25 and 50 free. I hope I will still be able to outswim you someday but I doubt it!

My Favorite Quote

Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they're not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.”

I read this a few months ago and could not remember where; I found it again  today and it just sums up the way I feel! Adoption has forever changed me and everyone in our family. We are all in agreement that it is a beautiful gift from God to love a child whom you did not know as your own. I don't ever think of Madeline as an orphan any more since she IS our family; yet every single night as I lay down with her I am in awe that she is MY child and I have the priveledge to raise her.  She forces me to stay close to God in that I need constant reassurance that we are doing what is right for her, such a balance of discipline and love........
