~Gentleness~

The last few months I have been thinking...
looking over this past year
and what I need to work on..

Just keepin it real
this year kicked my butt
and I am not proud of some of my responses
I became worn down emotionally
which lead to curt answers
bad attitude
sad days
lack of motivation
you get the picture..
many days were not pretty
just plain ole hard

My mantra all year long has been
"today is a new day"
thankfully God gives us grace and allows us to start over each and every day

One thing I have learned in my old age
is to accept my faults and try to work on them
instead of fighting with myself and making excuses for myself...
trust me I can come up with plenty of excuses
but that is all they are....excuses

a few months ago these verses were in my devotional
Galations 5:22-23
But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace,
forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self control.
Against such things there is no law.

Trust me I need to work on all these qualities
yet gentleness grabbed my attention.
I have not felt very gentle nor acted it much this year
I can pull on my big girl panties every day and put a smile on my face
and find something funny to make me laugh
but when the going gets rough during the day I'm not gentle in my tone or actions
so I'm working on it!!

I'll let you know how it goes
or maybe Hank and the kids will ha!

  1. Oh Paige, I am right there with you. The past year kicked my but too ,and I haven't been very gentle with anyone over here. I just jotted down in my prayer jouranl today to watch my words speak life not death. Then God brought me to this scripture "Let your Speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person" Collosians 4:6 And I am also praying that I ask God to fill me with his spirit because if I am filled with His spirit I will walk in Galations 5:22-23.
