~Southeastern Swim Championships~

John David has been waiting on this meet for a year. He competed against his age group at this meet and being at the older end of 14 he knew he could place well. He was nervous that it would not go as well as he hoped since he had a big meet the weekend before but goodness he swam his heart out and did so well. I was a nervous wreck the first night at finals, it is a hard life being the mom of a swimmer haha! By the 3rd night of finals I did not care how he did, we just wanted to go home lol!

getting ready to race

200 free wanting first badly....

I sent this pic to Hank and he said "awesome 3rd place against 18 year olds"
wrong meet Dad...this one is his age group hahaha
what happens when Dad is at meetings during travel meets, he can't keep up with where we are!

getting ready for his 500 free

goodness this was such a close race!! Both boys took 5 more seconds off their times from the morning race! He was so so excited with his place and time!

John David had 3 other races that he placed 9th to 11th in, he was pleased with his times but wanted to concentrate on the 200 and 500 for the win.

Marci and I were cracking up at our boys and their dance moves haha

it is relay time! These boys almost broke a 15 year old record last year so they were DYING to break it this year

John David started the race and was so nervous!

and they did!!! They were so pumped!!

Their team won first in boys and girls...
such an awesome meet for these hard working kiddos!!

John David will turn 15 in April so this was his last big chance at a meet for high placement. He left the meet one happy camper:)

This summer he is going back to Camp Bear Track for 2 weeks with his buddies instead of just concentrating on swimming. He will still swim all summer but wanting a break from pushing himself for the large meets. It took him months to make the decision since he is such a people pleaser and does not want to disappoint his coach. We are happy he is taking some time to be a kid!

~State Championships~

Now on to State Championships! Twelve kiddos from his school made state times and were sent off at the basketball game the evening before they left:)

My treat was that I was a newbie and did not know that they traveled and stayed at the hotel as a team. That meant that I drove all by myself and stayed all by myself....you know you are an old mom with younger kids when you are pumped that you get to drive 6 hours by yourself and only take care of yourself at a swim meet. It was heaven:) I got to watch my boy and visit my mother and eat at all my old favorite places in town.

This meet is so fun because all of West Tennessee cheers each other on, so the teams you have been swimming against all season are excited to see each other do so well.  Here are a "few" pics from the meet:)
During this meet John David competed against all highschool ages so he was low man on the totem pole as a Freshman but he did very well.
I love coming home to UT

contemplating his 200 free race about to begin

He did not make finals but placed 33rd overall in the State!~

I don't have pictures of his 500 free but he placed 22nd overall in the State...

He did go to finals each night for their 2 relays
The boys placed 14th overall in the 200 Free Relay
and 14th also in the 400 Free Relay:)

Finals were fun every night! The swimmer in 1st seed picked a song that was played as they all came on deck and were announced. Some kids dressed up in something funky. These kids were so fun!

The balloons were released when the winning team was announced!

finally eating junk food when it was over:)

John David really enjoyed swimming with his school,
only 3 more State meets in his future...I can't believe he is this old!
I so love watching him do what he loves!!!

Swimming, Swimming and Some Swimming

John David's short course swim season came to and end this past weekend. Within a few weeks he had his High School Championships, State Championships and lastly Southeastern Championships. Let's say this mama watched a bunch of swimming and my nerves are finally at rest. I become a bundle of nerves each and every time he gets on that block to dive. John David works so hard at everything he does and when he is striving for something I have his back....which includes lots of nervous energy. Over the past few months he has not swam his December best times so he was pushing hard to make new best times.

First up High School Championships

John David did well this meet but was disappointed that he did not make his best times from December. He still placed well in both his 200 and 500 free races. John David can't remember his times or places because he has had so many races over the past few weeks haha! Trust me he remembers each and every one of his new best times but when he does not meet those he does not remember:)

~Evie Lou Day~

Today was super exciting if you don't count the 7 hours of driving:)
We welcomed our Evie Lou home today...
She is 8 weeks old and oh so precious!
We originally told the girls that we were getting her in March so when we were told an earlier date we decided not to tell the girls and surprise them:)

Evie was very timid when I met her, like a lump haha
my goodness she is so sweet and cute!

the girls were very surprised to say the least!!
Evie never saw that coming haha

and yes the girls have pj's on during the middle of the day #dadwasincharge

Julianne came over to meet the newest addition....she is getting her own puppy in 2 weeks
also a goldendoodle!

her eyes!!!!

Goldbug checking her sister out!!

this pic scares me a bit....those paws are huge!!!
it was such a special day with a few over excited moments;)
